What is Vermiculite?
Vermiculite is a natural mineral that expands when heated. It is typically found in deposits that were formed by the alteration of certain types of mica minerals over time. Vermiculite is lightweight and has excellent insulation properties, making it useful in a variety of applications.
When vermiculite is heated, it expands into a spongy material that is fire-resistant and has excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties. Because of these properties, vermiculite is commonly used in construction and insulation applications, as well as in horticulture for soil conditioning and as a medium for growing plants. It is also used in the manufacture of various products such as brake linings, fireproof coatings, and packing materials.
