Blue oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus var. columbinus), like other oyster mushroom varieties, have specific temperature and humidity requirements for successful cultivation. Here are general guidelines for the incubation, fruiting temperatures, and humidity levels for blue oyster mushrooms:
- Incubation Temperature: During the incubation phase, which is the initial colonization of the substrate by mycelium, blue oyster mushrooms typically prefer a temperature range of 75°F to 85°F. Maintaining a consistent and suitable temperature within this range promotes the rapid growth and colonization of the substrate by the mushroom mycelium.
- Fruiting Temperature: Once the substrate is fully colonized, the fruiting phase begins. For blue oyster mushrooms, the fruiting temperature range is usually around 65°F to 75°F. This temperature range encourages the development of mushroom fruiting bodies.
-
Humidity Levels:
- Incubation Stage: Maintain a high relative humidity (RH) of around 95% during the incubation stage to create a favorable environment for mycelial growth.
- Fruiting Stage: Maintain a slightly lower relative humidity, typically between 85% and 93%, during the fruiting stage. This helps promote the formation of mushroom caps and the release of spores.
