"Each order includes two 1-pound bags of our organic brown rice flour mushroom substrate, a mini misting bottle and one cup of fine vermiculite to roll the colonized hydrated block in.

This substrate is the same one used in our BRF Jars, offering an equivalent substrate weight as the jars but at a significantly lower cost. One of the key advantages of our BRF Jar in a Grow Bag™ is that the mycelium block within it retains moisture much longer compared to BRF Jars, leading to increased mushroom yields.

(Spores or Liquid Culture not included)

In each mushroom grow bag, you will find 1 lb of brown rice flour mushroom substrate, which solidifies into a block measuring approximately 4"x4"x3" after sterilization. This substrate is crafted from organic brown rice flour, vermiculite, sulfur, calcium, and worm castings tea.

Our product is ready to use as it comes completely sterilized, and each bag features a self-healing injection port and a .22-micron gas exchange filter for easy inoculation. To inoculate, use 3-4cc of spore solution per bag. Avoid injecting directly into the substrate; instead, insert the needle just past the injection port and disperse the solution between the bag and substrate. Colonization will occur from the outside in.

During the incubation phase, maintain the substrate at the appropriate temperature for the specific mushroom species you are cultivating. Allow about 30-45 days for the bag to fully colonize. Do not disrupt the substrate during colonization if you plan to fruit directly from the colonized block. Once the blocks are fully colonized, wait an additional 5-7 days to allow the inner substrate to complete the colonization process.

To create a fruiting chamber, use a clear container with 2-4 inches of well-soaked and drained perlite placed at the bottom. Set the block on aluminum foil and position it on top of the perlite.

For fruiting, expect to have 2-3 flushes or waves of mushrooms per block. Adjust the fruiting temperature according to the species you are growing, lightly mist the environment once or twice a day, and maintain high humidity levels at 90-95%. Provide at least 12 hours of indirect sunlight or use a small grow light. Approximately 10 days later, the substrate will begin pinning, and you should cease misting at this point. As the mushrooms grow, reach in to remove fully grown ones, seal the bag back up, and wait for more to develop.

When harvesting, refrain from pulling mushrooms off the block, as this may hinder subsequent growth. Instead, cut each mushroom off the block when the veil releases from under the cap. Flushes represent your harvests. If the block appears dry after the first harvest, soak it in filtered water overnight in the refrigerator.

Additionally, you have the option to employ the monotub method for cultivation. We provide product support seven days a week, including holidays. If you are new to mushroom cultivation, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. We are committed to assisting and coaching beginners, and we value product support just as much as product quality."
